A New Promise

More than a year ago..

I felt so wasted and alienated, why it's like they want to forgot and left me when we almost graduated from high school? My best friends from 2 years, Andi and Bryan. But, she came closer to my life, Leirissa Larasati. Actually we'd already close, as a classmate of course. She's kind of funny and class' merry-maker girl and I had a crush on her a little bit. Then we talked more intense, we started to massaging everytime even until late night in long graduation holiday. She comforted me, made me feel so secure and wanted, made my day so colorful, she was so special to me, how lucky I am, could be close to beautiful and unique girl like her and one day....

"Rissa, would you be me girlfriend?

She looked surprised but she said "Yes"

"Are you sure?" Asked me.

Rissa smiled and said yes to me.

That day ever became one of the happiest day in my life.

Today

"Dion? Broo, are you still on earth? Wake up, wake up!" Indra, one of my best friend in college yelling in my ear.

"Wtf are you crazy!? What the hell are you want to say!?"

"Not him, dreamer boy but me. Could you repeat my last saying?"

Oh. My. God Mr. Anton.

"Im so sorry Mr. Anton, I didn't pay attention to you."

"Well, no problem, just continue your daydreaming, dreamer boy." Said Mr. Anton sarcastically.

"What are you thinking, dreamer boy?? Ooh I see, you thought about Rissa right? Hahahaa"

"Shut up! Hahahayeah, I think I need to wash my face first."

I walk to bathroom, yes Indra is right. We, Rissa and I continuing our study at the same college but in different faculty. This charity action is my major program and it's held outside town, I don't know Rissa will participating. Wow how long her hair now, so beautiful. Why she looks little bit skinnier and paler. Is she unhealthy, whether she's stressed? Should I ask her? Rissa is my ex, no no she's still my girlfriend, eh no she's my.....even I don't know what's her status now. I don't break up her but almost 5 months I didn't talk to her, since that time; I met my new college friends. They're great friends, we play together, go somewhere together, spend whole day together, make me forget about my problem with my previous best friends in high school and suddenly I feel that actually all I really need is new friends not a girlfriend, then little by little I felt that I didn't need her again, I replied her chat in a long time because I'm busy with my friends, didn't greet her with good morning or good night again, and finally I didn't meet her again until now, sometimes I think whether I'm so cruel or not but she looks ok with my behavior changing, she also didn't contact me again. So everything is fine, right?

.....

Oh no the sink is broken. I walk to the toilet in the old building.

"Dion?" Said a girl voice behind me.

Why i meet her when there're only two of us in the old building..

"Oh hi, Rissa." Then I pass her to the sink.

See? Only hi? You're so awful Dion, say something else to her, said my mind.

Suddenly... The ground is moving. Earthquake. An enormous earthquake, people are shouting. The wall begin to collapse.

"Dioon, watch out!!" Someone push my body away and everything turns dark.

.....

"Aaargh my legs" I try to move but the debris burried my body. Fortunately, i can breathe well. Then I realized,

"It's dark!" God, I'm blind! I'm blind I don't wanna blind!!" Cried me.

"Hahaha it's night Dion and of course state electricity company turn off the electricity after the earthquake, you're not blind."

"Rissa, it's that you? Thanks God, are you okay?"

"Yeah, here I am. I think I my body trapped behind this wall which separate us. She knock the wall.

"And, I think people will take a long time to find us because we're on the back part of this building."

Then silent.

10 minutes pass. Ok Dion, you must start the conversation.

"How are you Rissa?" Very cliche topic.

"Nod bad, how'bout ya? Still happy isn't  it with your friends?

Why she talks like that..

"Yes of course, we will go to the beach next week." Oh my, I shouldn't say that to her.

"Owkaay, have fun then."

The conversation turns very awkward.

"Don't you feel that is become colder here? Said me.

"Nope, but wait let me try to warmer you."

It's magic! Or maybe just my suggestion, I feel my body become warmer like she's hugs me.

We stay quiet at least for 2 hours.

I tried to break the situation, "You don't want to talk and meet me again?"

"You don't want it." She said calmly.

"Why you said that? Of course I want."

"Because I know it, from your replies which turn shorter and shorter then finally now you didn't message me again, you're very enthusiast with your friends but you show a cold shoulder to me."

Damn it, she's right.

"But you seems like you're okay when I do that. Why don’t you tell me?"

"You're happy with your friends, I don't want you feel sad again like when your friends left you, Because when I compared our old chat history with the newest, seems like I'm not your happiness again."

She said it clearly, she don't cry, but I know I've hurt her so much.

"Then why don't you break up me?" I continued.

"Yeah, maybe someday you'll need me again, I'll still be there for you."

Silent, silent again.

"Why you do that Rissa, that's hurts your heart."

"Because I'm still loving you the same, don't you realize that? You're so selfish, I don't message you again because it's like you don't want to keep our relationship going."

"But you're wrong, I still want you, I still want our relationship." Said me.

"Then why you didn't show it to me? I'm not a shaman, I can't read your mind. You want me to struggle for our relationship just by myself?"

I freeze. But I feel that my eyes getting warmer, then hotter.

"I'm so sorry Rissa, I'm so sorry. I'm too stupid to realize how precious you are. You've stayed by my side when my friends left me but I muff you when I have new friends. I'll promise we'll be struggling for our relationship together like before or we can start it from zero again, you want it?"

"But it's too late..." I hear her very quiet voice.

"No no listen, I'll do everything to fix our relationship, my special. I promise"

But she don't say anything.

I see the soft sunlight burst through the wall debris' gap. It's already morning.

"Just don't do the same to other girl you may love in the future. Ok?" Finally she said something.

"Noo, I just want y...."

"Ssstt, don't you hear that? They're looking for a survivor Dion, you must shout so they can safe you."

"Hellooo...anybody here?! Helloo..could you hear me??" Many people yelling from far away.

"Heelp..heelp I'm here heeelp me please, heelp!!" I'm yelling back at them.

"We must shout together Rissa, so they can hear us."

"Ok, heelp, help me please, I'm here help me please!!"

"Heeey, I'm heree..help me help me pleasee!!"

"Hey I just heard something from there, let's check it."

I feel so tired, hungry and thirsty.

"It's works Rissa, it's works, let's we shout together again."

"Rissa? Rissa? Oh my God, of course she's very tired, how if she fainting..."

"Rissa?? You're all right?"

"Yeah, just continuing, Dion. Shout louder, you can do it!"

"But, I'm so tired Rissa."

"Noo, don't give up Dion I'm still here."

"Heelpp quick, heeelp I'm here heelp please!!" I yelled louder.

"It's ok, it's ok we're here, we found you, please stay awake we're digging the debris." Said the people outside.

"We're safe, Rissa, now we're safe!"

"I think he's under this wall, let's move it together in 1..2..3!" The sunlight blinds my eyes.

.....

"Just don't do the same to other girl you may love in the future, Ok?"

.....

"Rissa, Rissaa!" I wake up.

"Whoa..whoa easy, don't sit down first, you've got fracture in your right leg.'

"Uncle Ferry?" I recognize him when my sights being normal again. Uncle Ferry is mom's youngest brother who become a doctor. 

"You've been unconscious about a day after they found you in that building debris, you're okay Dion, you just exhausted.

"Are mom and dad all right after the earthquake?

"Yes, they are. And they're headed here now."

"Rissa! Where is she?! She's ok, right? I want to see her, uncle"

"Rissa? Oh the girl found with you yesterday?"

"Yes, she is. We spent the night talking together. Where is she uncle?"

"You talked together with her at that night? Hmm...I'll ask her doctor first."

Rissa, I'll fulfill my promise to you...

5 minutes, 10 minutes...

Uncle Ferry is back. With another doctor.

"So, could I meet her now, doctor? Pleasee.."

"Doctor Ferry said that you've been talked to Leirissa that night. That's impossible, Leirissa's body found after the team rescued you. Her autopsy report said that she had heavy brain concussion and she died more than 12 hours before her body was found. Probably she's fell dead after......something.......hitting her..........then.............

Everything is turns dark.

"Just don't do the same to other girl you may love in the future. That's your new promise I've been do my best to stay with you until the end. Farewell Dion.." Her sound is echoing in my mind.

NEW EDITION! Summarizing a paragraph

What's summary?

The summary of a paragraph is the main idea of the paragraph. Often (but not always), the main idea is found in the topic sentence.

There are 3 steps to summarizing a paragraph:

• Step 1: Read the paragraph all the way through to be sure you understand it.
• Step 2: Check to see if the paragraph contains a topic sentence.
• Step 3:  Write the topic sentence of the main idea with your own words and sentence structure.

 

The summary:

Christa McAuliffe from New Hampshire was chosen by NASA to be the first teacher-astronaut.
Christa already had many months of preparation and training before the mission.
But Challenger, the space ship, was exploded in air January 1986, all the crews is died in the crash.

After done the summary I felt so relief because finally I've done all my blog assignment. But......wait 2 mins.. I was at limuny with Evanda streaming for YouTube videos when we knew that the those summary we've already done several days ago wasn't the real summary assignment. Evanda said to me "Rik, is that true? Open the be smart, open the be smart!!" Then I felt just like: do not have fun first, abort mission! I repeat abort mission!! (^.^')v 

The Real Assignment

1. The English were not the first Europeans to land their ships on American soil. The Vikings had discovered North America in the 11th century. Columbus landed in the Bahamas in 1492 for Spain, and the French began expeditions to the New World in 1524. But the first English presence in North America is important because the thirteen English colonies that would later be established eventually became the country now known as the United States of America.

- The English were not the first European who landed in America, but the presence of English is important for the establisment of America.

2. In April of 1585 Sir Walter Raleigh, under the authority of Queen Elizabeth of England, sent an expedition of seven ships carrying 600 men, half of them soldiers, to found an English colony in North America. The colony was to be used to establish an English presence in the New World as well as a base from which English privateers, or pirates, could attack and plunder Spanish treasure fleets. Raleigh’s cousin, Sir Richard Grenville, led the expedition. 

- Sir Walter Raleigh sent and expedition about 600 men, half soldier to America April 1585 to found an English colony in North America led by Sir Richard Greenvile.

3. In July of that year the bulk of the fleet reached a small island off the coast of Virginia that was called Roanoke. After building a small fort on the north side of the island, the colonists initiated relations with a Native American tribe that lived on the island, the Aquascogoc. These natives showed little interest in building relations with the English colonists, and they soon parted company. After this encounter, however, the English noticed that one of their silver cups had gone missing, and they attributed its disappearance to the Aquascogoc. Grenville, the English captain, was furious. He believed that the Aquascogoc had stolen the silver cup. Whether or not this was true, angry exchanges followed and soon the English burned the Aquascogoc village. The English held their fort against the subsequent attacks of the natives.

- They reached a small island called Roanoke in July, the colonist had a good relation with Native American tribe Aquascogoc but when a silver cup gone missing the colonist blamed the natives was stole the cup then the colonist attacked them.

4. Despite their success in battle, the colonists had a miserable time because they were mainly soldiers and adventurers, not farmers. They were hungry. They missed the comforts of England, such as soft feather beds and dainty foods. Also they had expected to find gold and silver on the island, and were disappointed when they found none. Grenville soon tired of these conditions and set out on his ship to plunder Spanish treasure fleets and return to England. The colony was gradually abandoned.  

- After their success in battle, the colonist was hungry because many of them was a soldier not a farmer then they started to abandoned the colony.

5. In 1587 Sir Walter Raleigh dispatched a further expedition of three ships and 150 colonists, led by John White, to Roanoke. This time the expedition included women and children, including White’s pregnant daughter, Elenora. Shortly after they reached Roanoke, Elenora delivered a child whom they named Virginia. Virginia was the first English person born in America. But the English soon ran into more trouble with the Native Americans. A colonist named George Howe was killed by natives while searching for crabs alone on the beach. The colonists were scared. They persuaded White to sail back to England to ask Sir Walter Raleigh for help. White left behind 114 colonists, including his daughter Elenora and granddaughter Virginia. 

- Raleigh sent John White to led another expedition of 150 people to Roanoke including White's daughter in 1587. But then White must sail back to England left his colony after one of them was killed by native.

6. Unfortunately for White and the colonists, England was preparing for a naval war with Spain. All shipping from English ports was ceased. It took White three years to get his relief expedition back to Roanoke. When he returned in August of 1590, White found no sign of his daughter, granddaughter, or anyone else. They found three letters, “CRO,” carved on a tree and the full word, “CROATOAN,” on a nearby post. Possibly this referred to the Croatoan Island, which was nearby. White searched long and anxiously, but failed to find them.
  
- White had his expedition back to Roanoke three years later because England was in naval war with Spain but he couldn't find anyone.

7. No further trace of the lost colony has ever been found. Sir Walter Raleigh himself searched for the colonists in 1595, and he sent another search-party in 1602, but nothing came of either attempt. To this day no one knows for certain what happened to the colonists. 

- Then Raleigh himself looked after the colony in 1595 and 1602 but no one could find them until today.

Email to someone abroad

When I got this task, I was very very confused because I never had a friend or penpal in other country before. Lucky me, I remember that I have a close friend who likes to chatting with people from other countries. So, I told her about the task and asked her whether she has a close friend in other country. Then she gave me an email address of her friend who lives in Germany. I tried to write a draft of the mail then asked my friend's opinion about the draft whether it has impolite topic or not. After that, she was laughed at me but she said the email draft is OK, polite enough to send. Then I sent it to her German friend. I've been waited for long time for her reply and finally last Sunday she replied my email........

      Coraline entering a parallel world behind an old door of her new house where she must face her evil parallel mother who is ruler of that parallel world and has a dangerous obsession with her.

When Coraline refuse to becomes the parallel mother's daughter, the parallel mother hostages her real parents in a snow globe.

So, the main story of the book is about Coraline's struggle to safe her parents. She also tries to safe the soul of three ghost children, the previous victims of the evil parallel mother.

       Coraline Jones, the main character is a brave, tough and clever girl. She is young but mature in her age. She's always tried to be calm when facing her parallel mother.

       

       Mr and Mrs Jones, Coraline real parents kinds of busy parents but loves and cares Coraline. Coraline often gets annoyed with her parents because her dad like to make an experiments with food yet her mom doesn't seem to let her "fit in". 

       The cat, a black cat from Coraline's world. The cat like a mentor in Coraline's journey in the parallel world. The cat is very sarcastic though helpful to Coraline.

       The parallel mother, the main villain on the story and the creator of the parallel world. Looks similar to Coraline's real mother but taller and thinner. She has long black hair, pair of black button eyes, pale skin, long fingers with very long red nails.

       The illustrations also greatly contributed to the whole story. It brings the dark, mysterious and odd atmosphere when I read the book. The story teaches us to be calm, brave and clever when facing a danger however we just a small person like a child.

       Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. It has interesting and engaging plot and the story is not predictable. I think that's one of the most epic children book I've ever read because the book is so different from the other children book which full of colour and happiness however it has a happy ending like another children book.

  

Movie Review: The Green Mile (1999)

"The lives of guards on Death Row affected by one of their charges: a black man accused of child murder and rape yet who has a mysterious gift. 

      -Chris White-

Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) who is in charge of Death Row in block E Louisiana prison is a nice man, and his staff also compete and humane. Except the arrogant, stubborn Percy Wetmore (Dough Hutchinson) whose aunt is marry to the governor. Paul and his staff duty is to regulate a calm and decent condition in which men prepare to die but Percy is like infection in the ward, he's mean, careless, stupid and troublemaker.

One day, a new prisoner arrives. A gigantic black man named John Coffey (Michael Clark Duncan). He has been convicted of killing and raping two little white girls. But Paul thinks that John is innocent because he's soft-hearted, he's afraid of dark and he's had straightforward gesture not like a man with anything to be ashamed of. Then Paul known John has special gift to make the other people feel the past or future events and to heal any ilness include healing Paul's serious bladder infection. After Paul know the true story behind the arrest of John Coffey, he's struggling to prove that John is innocent.

Taking set in 1935 era. Called green mile because this death row has a green floor. Based on a novel by Stephen King and has been written and directed by Frank Darabot. This movie using flashback plot because at the beginning, the scene was old Paul Edgecomb told story about John Coffey to his friend, Elaine Conelly (Eve Brent) on the nursing house.

It's one of the most emotional movie I've ever seen (but its didn't succeed to make me cry) because the movie contains  lot of strongly emotional scene like when Mr. Jingles, one of the prisoner, Eduard Delacroix (Michael Jeter) rat died because Percy the rotten stomp on it, when Eduard Delacroix death row was sabotage by Percy and when the the true story about John Coffey was revealed.

The Green Mile is a fiction, crime, drama, fantasy,mystery movie. Its has been nominated 4 time for Oscars, won 13 awards and 28 other nomination. Release in USA, 10 December 1999. Got 3.5/4 rating in Roger Ebert, 80% in Rotten Tomatoes, 8.5/10 in IMDb prove that this is a good movie whether its little bit heavy and hard to understand. You also must have long free time to watch it because its 189 minutes movie.

Just a simple announcement and a poster made by a newbie Corel draw user...

I love taking photograph so much. Everywhere everytime when something catched my eyes, had enough time and of course in a proper conditions, I always shoot it however it's just a random things or scenery. Sometimes people around me said "what a wasting time person you are"
I can't shoot wonderful artsy pictures like professional photographer did, but I love my pictures just the way they are because in my mind they're beautiful in their own way although it's just simple picture taking by my cellphone camera.

I named him Mauu because his sound like "mauu mauu". He's not mine, he was a stray cat. Usually he looked for food around my house and when I saw him quickly I tried to found anything in my house I could have to him. But several day after those photos taken, my uncle found him died after ate idk what was it but already poisoned by rodenticide.
